I love beads and would like to start making beaded jewelry and things. I have no experience in doing this. Is there a website or book or anything that is very easy to get me started and work my way up to bracelets and other things?
I will give you some ideas on how to get started on beaded jewelry and what you need to get to make it.
Tools - 2 chain nose pliers, 1 round nose pliers, 1 crimp pliers, 1 flat nose pliers, split ring pliers, 1 wire cutters, rulers, beads needles, tweezer, scissor, glue, bead board organizer, bead trays or bead organizer.
Findings - Assorted head pins, jump rings, split rings, crimps, assorted ear wires and post, assorted clasps, clamshells and end caps.
Threads, cords and wire - Nylon thread, Nymo thread, Kevlar thread, Elastic cord, nylon cord, satin cord, leather cord, Stainless steel wire such as "Accu-flex, Soft Flex, Soft Touch, Beadalon, etc.
Beads - there are all kinds of beads that you find them at store and online. You might want to do some research on it.
Books - "Jewelry Making and Beads for Dummies", "Beading For The First Time", "Beader's Companion", The Encyclopedia of Beading Techniques", "Big Book of Beautiful Beads", "Complete Beading Jewelry and Accessories", and Basic Jewelry Making".
You will have to do some research on what book is right for you to understand.

I know I can look it all up on the internet, but what I need are real reviews. I like to do basic jewelry making, but I find myself amiss when I try to create and eye-loop or join together a necklace. Does anyone know of a how-to book with basics of making beaded jewelry?
Ruth Poris has a number of books that are excellent, very easy to follow. There are LOTS of bead books available. I suggest you check out the larger bookstores in your area and find one that appeals to you that is geared toward the type of projects you want to do. And don't forget to check the used book stores. I have some real treasures on beads and all sorts of crafting that are out of print that I got at used book stores.
I want to find a good online course for making beaded jewerly. All I ever find, however, is resources for buying the supplies. If an online course isn't available, I need a good beginners instruction dvd, not book, as I need it to be as user friendly as possible, and books just aren't, or at least I haven't found one. Books just show you patterns and give instructions on how to make them. I know nothing and need to start from scatch. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know of any on-line courses but if you have access to the DIY network, they have a program called jewelry making that would be helpful. You can also go to their website www.diynetwork.com to see some instructions and possibly videos from the show. If there is a Michael's or Hobby Lobby near you, they may offer a one evening course for beginners. The basic things you need to know: get a pair of round nose jewelry pliers, chain nose jewelry pliers, a crimping tool and a jewelry wire cutter. Other basic supplies are tiger tail ( a stainless steel cable jewelry wire for stringing that is covered with clear vinyl and crimping tubes or beads. These are what holds the ends of the wire on the clasp and prevents your beads from slipping off. It took me awhile to find out about tiger tail and crimp beads so you are that much farther ahead. Once you learn how to crimp the first end of the stringing wire to the clasp, you just string beads on in a pattern you like then repeat the crimping attachment on the other part of the clasp. This is a craft that you learn from doing and the more you do,the better you will get.
I am looking for the Judi Mullins that makes crystal jewelry and has a book with she lives in Oregon. The book is called Tyme Beads in Tigard.
Hi! I couldn't find a book by that title however, 'My Tyme Beads' seems to be a wonderful bead supply store in Tigard, Oregon that Judi Mullins is involved with where they offer instruction.
But I found this.. I hope it helps! :

I want to learn how to make body jewelry, like captive bead rings and barbells, but I dont know where to get started properly. I know of metals and sizes to use, but I want to do this from scratch without premade materials at all.
Take a jewerly making class:

Learn the basics, then 'tweak' them to fit your need. However, what is the benefit of making everything from scratch? Aside from a personal sense of accomplishment, wouldn't it be easier, safer, and more cost effective to purchase the basic rings and barbells, then embellish them from scratch?
