The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Need a name to put on buisness cards and my website Im creating. I handmake beaded jewelry. I use beads of glass and plastic. My name is Christina....I've thought of a few like "Beads By Christina", "BusyBeads", and a few others but I want something more cute and playful. Shoot me some ideas would you? A name is one of the most important things...
Here's how it started for help with ideas:\
About 2 years ago I went to a Walmart on one of those trips where you walk up and down every isle...I came accross the beads and crafts section, picked up a few things to make a couple bracelets and necklaces...then everyone wanted one around me when they saw how pretty it came out...so i made a few more as gifts and then my brother in law and his mom were telling me that if I made a few more they could take them to there friends to sell them for me....then I started making more and we would have like a demonstration where all my mom in laws friends would come over...
Then after a while of them picking up one bracelet and telling me to make earrings and a necklace that matched, I decided to make "sets" instead...then I saw the idea to use a peice of cardstock paper as the backing for the jewelry sets so that they could be put in a filebox with each one having its own individual price...So that's pretty much how I've gotten here today.
Now I would like to take it one step further and create a name for my mini company so I can make buisness cards or even a label to print onto the cardstock so that people could contact me or visit my website for future reference...I think it may help expand my circle of clients that I currently hanve.
Thanks for your help! And maybe I'll see you at my store one day!
Most of my husbands family speaks spanish only, so what if I used a spanish phrase that english speakers might understand...or maybe just one word...
Do you have a nick name or pet name that you like? Use that as something special. How about "Just Bead-cause". Make it something that is so totally you and totally unique so that people can remember it.
should I also sell beads from the site? Or do you think that someone looking for already made jewelry is not looking for beads? Also if anyone already runs their own small craft-based business and has any tips for me I'd love it! Thank you!
Would having the supplies to make take away the focus of the site from the jewelry?
Congrats on the decision to create your own website! After you have created your site, they are no more work than listing on other sites that sell for you and you will not be in direct, on site competition with others.
Jewelry is a heavily saturated market be it hand made or manufactured. I loved the idea of kits! Supplies are a great way to direct the focus to your own products. You can always direct a shopper to the product "these beads were used to make".
Free ads are the best way to promote your site. Stay organized and spend a few hours each week on promotions and you will find yourself making sales in a short time. Remember, it takes about a year to get search engine recognition. Just consider it a worthwhile investment into yourself and your business.
Happy sales and good luck!

I have made Snowflakes ;)))
I create unique, intricate beautiful jewel crafts, my strength lies on my infinite ideas and my ability to design and sell it, but i need an angel investor to run it smoothly cause i dont have a capital. I don't want to work in the corporate world, I prefer to be an enterpreneur coz I believe my talent could go a long way. Any suggestions?
Angel investors could mean your family, friends or acquiantances. Check if anyone in your immediate circle would want to invest in your business.
I am not too sure if your business is the type that will attract the big angel investors. Business 2.0 http://money.cnn.com/2006/02/28/magazines/business2/angelinvestor/index.htm has a very good article on angel investors, what they typically look for, what kind of investments they support, etc. But you can always try.
Be sure to have a strong business plan and describe what makes your business idea stand apart. You may want to go and pitch your ideas where investors gather. Here are some places where angel investors come and those looking for funding can come and pitch their business plans.
