So I want to find a really great, unique copper ring to have something inscribed on. I know exactly what I want, only problem is I don't know anything about copper jewelry, do you? AND, I need to know a really great website or something to find copper rings on. Hopefully there are some experts out there stumbling across this!

As Kimattc wrote, Copper turns green/black very fast and will stain your finger. In fact, the reason for tarnish in sterling silver jewelry is the low copper content added to silver for obtaining the desired properties (see http://sarit-jewelry.com/Info.html for more information).
Copper is a very important element in our body. However, when it comes to continuos, long exposures to copper (as in wearing a ring), one better make sure that the level of exposure is safe.

Tips: 1. you may dramatically slow down the corrosion process by covering the copper with lacquer. 2. dipping copper objects in lemon salt solution turns it new.

I'm in a jewelry class at school and I am making a key chain in the shape of a seal with copper. I am currently trying to hand polishing it, but the metal keeps (i think?) tarnishing where I hold it. I think it is reacting to moisture or chemicals or something on my hands, or maybe just air. I was wondering if using clear nail polish would prevent it from becoming dull when i move on to another part of the metal to polish. Does this work?
If not, any suggestions?

I have been experimenting with my jewelry making by incorporating brass and copper findings. I have had people ask about skin allergies. I'm sure the findings are just copper/brass plated pewter but I'd like coat them with something to protect them so as to not cause allergic reactions. Any suggestions?

i'm glad that you appreciate caring for your jewelry. i have used clear nail polish around a brass ring so it doesn't turn my finger green because the ring held important sentimental value to me and i couldn't just "not wear it." if that works, invest in a lot of clear nail polish. at wal-mart, you can buy a bottle for $0.99 without tax. otherwise you can check out some local beading shops because they have protectants to go around wire and such to prevent things like that.

Nail polish would perhaps work short term, but when heated by the warmth of hands, it will not stay dry like it does on your nails.

For the short term, I would suggest holding it with a piece of cloth to slow the rate of tarnishing, or perhaps a eyeglasses cleaning cloth.

I have a couple of vintage copper cuff bracelets from the 60s - 70s & they are starting to tarnish. Does anyone know what would be good to clean them? Thanx!

You don't have to have a store-bought cleaner, you can use things that can easily be found around the house in most any kitchen; vinegar, lemon juice, or ketchup! Test it out on a small area to make sure you get the result you are looking for. I find that for my copper pots, the best and fastest solution is anything tomato based, like tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato juice, etc. Sounds wierd, but it works like a charm.
